What lights up your darkness tonite?

Separation Edvard Munch 1894. Public Domain

Night after night after night

So many years gone by

We do the same thing

You and me

We stare outside our midnight windows

Wondering what lights up the darkness

Of each others’ corners tonite

Flickering hesistant stars or a still triumphant moon

A quivering candle or a temple’s composed lamp

A beacon or a searchlight, a rose lantern

~luminescence of her rose skin perhaps~

One matchstick of a fleeting life

(half light, full light, fading light, voluptuous light, retreating light, mad light, violent light, zen light, merged light, severed light, homogenous, non coherent light, what light falls on your emptied seas tonite?)

Or light from our bodies slowly going up in flames

In the same loss of each other

Life after life after life.
